Generally, the way it works is that each person is presented with a white tile upon entering the church and a pencil or pen. During the course of the service, a meditation is done that helps the person connect with their divine essence, Higher Self, Divine Mind–whatever we call God. We are invited to ask for guidance on what our word or words will be for the year that will represent our highest intention or it may be a name that we hear for this new spiritual identity. That name is then written upon the white tile.

We keep the white tile as a reminder of our intention.

The idea of the White Stone ceremony comes from Revelation 2:17: “Let anyone who has an ear listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches. To everyone who conquers (who overcomes) I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give a white stone, and on the white stone is written a new name that no one knows except the one who receives it.”

The ceremony will provide an ideal time to let go things that no longer work in your life. We will encourage you to write on (special) paper, things, ideas and situations that you no longer wish to have power in your life-things you wish to release in the coming year. Then, you will be invited to symbolically cast your list to the eternal flame in the “burning bowl” and begin anew.

We will also write a letter to ourselves for those things we wish to manifest in our lives during the coming year. The church will mail it to us in a year.

We are closing the door on our renovations and moving a few steps down the hall into our new sacred space.  This week is dress rehearsal.  The walls are painted, the carpet is laid, new light fixtures are in.  You don’t want to miss it!

The Gospel Quartet will be back to celebrate our first service in the new sanctuary.  You will feel moved (literally and figuratively), inspired and awakened when you attend this Sunday and listen to the special music.

At times we may feel different from others, even from members of our own families.  Rather than see that as a problem, we can celebrate our differences.

Paintings are more interesting with complementary colors.  Harmony in music comes from creating agreement between divergent notes.  Couples could not dance without taking opposing steps.

We celebrate and love ourselves for the unique expressions of Spirit that we are.  We celebrate and love others for the unique espressions of Spirit that they are.  We are all worthy; we all are sacred.  Like colors of the rainbow, we are each different, yet held together in harmony.
