Rev. Victoria Etchemendy, Minister

Dear Friends,

It's spring, and summer is close behind on the calendar. The birds are chirping; the plants are blossoming; and the bumblebees in my garden are in heaven. The sunlight bursts through my windows, and my heart and home are filled with light. Aaahh!

My thoughts are filled with the promise of graduations, weddings, and vacations. This is a season of celebrations and rituals that are a part of our daily lives.

I'm packing for a short stay at the beach as I write this article. I grew up in the Midwest and our beaches were gravel and sand riverbanks that did not invite you to sit and contemplate the meaning of life.

When I arrived in Oregon twenty-five years ago, a trip to the beach became my favorite thing to do on my days off. The sand under my feet and the sound of the waves is like a symphony for one to my soul!

However, I rarely take the time to go to the beach anymore!

The eternal rhetorical question is why? Why do I (we) often deny myself/ourselves the simple joys of life and keep getting busier and busier?

The good news is I've recommitted myself to the ritual of going to the beach. I've recommitted to living in the moment and noticing the little whispers from Spirit that remind one to smile and breathe.

The good news is I know Heaven is around and within me, whether I'm working, playing, or praying.

Please join me and recommit yourself to what brings you great Joy!

Many Blessings,
Victoria
