Community Outreach Programs

We welcome your support and participation in our community outreach programs. Volunteers, financial, and prayer support are always needed for these caring programs.

West Linn Food Bank

Please bring non-perishable food items, toiletries and paper products to Unity for delivery to the Food Bank.  The needed  toiletries include toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand soap, shampoo and conditioner.  Paper products include toilet paper and Kleenex , the “luxury” items that many families cannot afford.  Help a neighbor now.

Raphael House

Raphael House provides temporary shelter for children that have been removed from their parent’s home by child protective services. Alas, they have also been removed from their loved ones, their pets, their toys, and their friends. Children coming into the shelter are usually scared and unhappy, and a teddy bear or stuffed animal is a welcome companion to hang on to. Each year at Christmas time, the members of our spiritual community provide dozens of stuffed furry friends to Raphael House.

Transitions Project

The Transitions Project helps homeless men get back on their feet and back into homes. On the third Friday of each month, volunteers for our Food from the Heart program, nicknamed the “crockpot brigade,” prepare and serve dinner for more than 100 men. Please contact the World Healing Center for more information about this project and how you can make a difference.

Avani School, Kolhapur, Inda

The Avani School was started by Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi. The school rescues street children, the poorest of the poor, who are preyed on and exploited, often to work in the sex trade as prostitutes. At the school these children find food, shelter and an education, plus the sense of belonging to a community, which they may never have had before.

Central Asia Institute, Bozeman, MT.

The Central Asia Institute was started by Greg Mortenson in the 90’s. To learn of his journey, read his book Three Cups of Tea, an inspiring story of how he came to build schools in remote areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan. CAI has established dozens of schools in these areas , encouraging attendance by girls, with the mission that “Peace and Hope begin with education; one child at a time.”
